My background as an artist helps me to understand and work with the creative process and creative blocks in writers, musicians and visual artists. I am attuned to the aesthetics of nonverbal communication and personal expression.
I have been practicing Buddhist meditation for 25 years. I teach meditation classes and have attended numerous multi-day, silent retreats. I bring the principles of Buddhist psychology to my work. This includes approaching emotional difficulties with equanimity, and spaciousness, while encouraging states of well-being. I was also raised Catholic, so am very familiar with Christian and non-Christian approaches to spirituality. This provides a background to my work as a therapist, but does not impose a religious or spiritual imperative.
